Building sustainability at molecular level

The Materials segment underpins Dobtho’s three pillar structure and defines how performance, sustainability and cost are engineered from the outset. It focuses on the development and supply of high performance fibres, yarns and polymer based inputs that feed directly into Technical Textiles and Wear and Equipment. Work begins at polymer and fibre level, where material composition and structure determine strength, thermal response, abrasion resistance, dimensional stability and durability over time. The portfolio includes aramids, UHMWPE, recycled engineered inputs and specialty yarn systems designed for regulated and industrial environments. Each material is developed with defined end use requirements, ensuring that properties align with the standards and operating conditions of downstream applications.

 

Development is grounded in measurable performance rather than claims. Materials are evaluated against criteria such as tensile strength, heat and flame behaviour, electrical arc response, wash durability and chemical resistance. Specifications are shaped by real use cases across utilities, infrastructure, healthcare, education and industrial markets. Sustainability is addressed at source through material selection, cleaner materials, recycled content integration and process discipline. The objective is to reduce environmental impact while maintaining integrity and commercial feasibility. 

 

Commercial discipline is central to the segment. Materials are designed for manufacturability and repeatability across approved supply chains. Earnings are reinvested into research, formulation improvement and capability expansion, strengthening long term competitiveness. By controlling upstream inputs, Dobtho aims to improve traceability and resilience across its value chain.

The Materials segment is not isolated. It feeds directly into Technical Textiles, where fibres and yarns become engineered fabric systems, and into Wear and Equipment, where those systems become finished products. In 2026, more than 300 products are being launched across the broader business, each rooted in upstream material decisions. Materials therefore serve as the base layer of a structured progression from molecule to market.

 

The focus remains consistent: develop materials that meet defined standards, scale responsibly and support downstream systems that perform reliably in regulated environments.
